Barbados Shopping

Like other popular tourist destinations in the Caribbean, Barbados offers visitors the benefits of Duty Free Shopping, applying to popular high quality, merchandise such as liquor, tobacco, china, crystal, clothing, fashion accessories, electronics, cameras, watches perfumes and jewelry.

Duty free shopping offers prices 30% to 50% less than in Europe and America, besides being of excellent service and a unique experience, visiting from small shops and boutiques to air-conditioned modern malls.

However, it is important take along your passport or airline ticket with you while going shopping. Most stores offer to deliver your packages directly to the airport or seaport at no cost for your convenience.

Bridgetown is the capital of Barbados and the capital of the shopping activities. Right here is where you can find whatever your imagination dictates. Downtown Broad Street you will find large department stores and many of the duty free shops of the island.

The shopping district also features countless specialty stores, restaurants, coffee shops and bars. Outside of the capital, the Bayshore Complex, is another shopping area with historic value, as well as small towns offering shopping services.

Just as Pelican Village, on the outskirts of Bridgetown, visitors to Barbados can purchase local handicrafts, including straw batik, paintings, bags, wall hangings, souvenirs, and even rum cakes and syrup, displayed also in many other Chattel Village areas.

Visitors, who are staying in accommodations with kitchen facilities, will find it very attractive to go shopping to local supermarkets, mini-marts, and markets, such as Big B Supermarket and Julie 'N Supermarket in Worthing, Jordan's Supermarket in Payne's Bay, or Super Centre in Holetown.

The info desk at your hotel can advise you of the nearest shopping locations, the same as the friendly islanders and local Tourism offices.
